State and local law now mandates getting a permit from the Permit Office located at Suite 100, 209 West Main Street, New Iberia, (Evangeline Life Building) phone 337 369-4438, before coming to the town hall for your sewer deposit.
The steps to obtaining utility service in the Village corporate limits are as follows: 1. Call the above office to determine the necessary paperwork, and amount of money you need get your permit application; 2. purchase your permit through the above office; 3. Come to the Loreauville Town Hall with your permit, driver's license or identification, plus cash or money order for your sewer deposit which is $100.00 for owners of building and property; $150.00 for renters, doesn't matter if you own the business or home, if you are renting the property your deposit is $150.00; You receive a receipt for your deposit payment; 4. After the Permit Office puts the orange inspection tag on your building bring it to the town hall; 5. It will be faxed to LAWCO, CLECO and in the future Centerpoint Energy. You will be given your sewer deposit form at this time which can be used as proof you are in the city limits which you will need to get a post office box and your children registered at the Loreauville schools. 6. Be aware if there are any outstanding amounts due the Village of Loreauville at the physical location you are moving to, these need to be cleared at the time a sewer deposit is paid.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however, these procedures are now mandated by state law adopted after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. If you need further information, or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact the town hall. We remind you our office days are Monday through Friday unless if closed for a holiday and our hours are 8:00 AM to Noon; 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
